Beginnings

Vivida Lifestyle wasn’t born from a whiteboard strategy in a meeting room. It wasn’t created to fill a gap in the market. It was not born as a clever marketing strategy, or image with a manufactured message or purpose. Vivida is a way of life. Vivida is real. Those who know it, feel it, and keep coming back for more.

Vivida Lifestyle was initially founded in 2015 as a purely purpose-driven passion project, serving as a reminder and daily inspiration to live life to the fullest - always striving to find connection to and appreciation for the natural wonders that surround us.

For founder David Harris-Burland, this vision was shaped by the unexpected passing of his Dad years before Vivida even began, at just 7 years old. The loss was a formative source of motivation, a reminder of life’s harsh but endlessly beautiful impermanence, and a call to spend this short precious stint in the miracle of life doing what he loved, while inspiring others to do the same. Vivida became a reminder to live fully, to be grateful for each day, and to honour the miracle of life in all its unpredictable beauty.

At a cross-roads in life

The pressure for David to climb the corporate ladder was palpable. With a degree from a top business school, a job offer in investment banking and friends around him heading into the city, he was set to enter the “rat race” — until he listened to his instincts.

At this crossroads in his life, David chose adventure and freedom over prescribed predictability. immersing himself in far-flung adventures, diverse cultures, and transformative connections. These early journeys sparked a movement—a simple, authentic beginning that resonated with people worldwide who sought to live fully and fearlessly.

The Together movie, filmed in those early days, encapsulates Vivida’s essence—a pure beginning rooted in real experiences, moments well-lived, and friendships forged across continents, generally centred around kitesurfing & adventure. The people showcased in the film - those who overlapped in time & place with David - include some of the very first Vivida ambassadors and visionaries that helped to bring Vivida to where it is today, inspired by the brand’s ethos and truth.

As Thomas Merton once wrote, “People may spend their whole lives climbing the ladder of success only to find, once they reach the top, that the ladder is leaning against the wrong wall.” David understood that time is finite and that the “someday” everyone waits for is often an illusion. Vivida stands for those willing to climb a different ladder, one grounded in authenticity, adventure, and the joy of being alive.

From humble beginnings into a global movement

The business itself started from humble beginnings. David and his mum initially used their garage & garden container as storage, and personally packed and waited in line at the Post Office to ship out every order. In parallel, having taught himself videography and drone piloting, David was able to take on videography work for weddings, boutique hotels, kiteboarding brands, professional athletes - and even Coca Cola Spain! This not only funded his journeys but became crucial seed money for Vivida.

The Vivida we know today has come incredibly far. Vivida is no longer just a idea, just a vision. It’s a reality with a momentum of its own. It’s not a marketing ploy, strategy, or image with a manufactured message or purpose. Vivida is real. Those who know it, feel it, and keep coming back for more. And just as brands before us have pioneered new approaches to emerging markets and trends, so too will Vivida, at this perfect intersection of consumer awareness, a deep need for authenticity, sustainability, wellbeing and happiness… as a lifestyle

Today, David’s passion project has evolved into a movement that touches nearly every corner of the world with sustainable products and unmistakable energy. Our name, derived from 'Viva la Vida', is the basis of our philosophy in all that we do, support, and create. Vivida's products are built to enhance your adventures, bridging technical & functional with luxury, creativity & beauty.

While Vivida has come a long way, the story is just getting started, and we couldn’t be more excited about all the promise and possibility of this Vivida Movement.
